tree
this tree is the showboat of the block. the others are as green as they were in june. it rained for more than 7 straight days. I nearly cried at the sight of the sun. the river and pond by our house are flooded, and there are tree limbs in yards and streets knocked down by today's 30 mph winds. soon, I will begin using the term "nor'easters", but I am not yet sure it's appropriate.

I must have gained 10 pounds when my mom was here. we ate lots of great food at all of the places Hugsband and I cannot normally afford. we did splurge for a date last night, now that we're on our own. we had a lovely italian dinner and a movie. the food was rich and delicious, but we were running late for the film and had to forgo the tiramisu. the waitress did bring me a complimentary sambuca. isn't that thoughtful? we saw (and enjoyed) 'the squid and the whale'.

Hugsband is spending the afternoon watching a zombie dvd he bought at the dollar store. the title of the dvd includes the word vengeance, which is spelled "vengence". it's a very classy video, with porn-style music and shaky camera work. the description on the back reads: These two grave robbers are robbing a tomb when they get trapped inside. Then this voodoo guy brings the body to life and it kills them. The dead body's cousin (I think) goes to this séance, then goes to a cursed house to visit this guru.

I don't know when junior high school students started writing film descriptions, but it seems like a shrewd business maneuver on the part of the distributor. what do those kids make, like $3 per hour?

Comments:
I loved this post. Mmmm, sambuca. Did you have it in coffee? I haven't had that... since... since I was way too young to have that.

And we make $4 an hour, with .30 taken out per misspelling (title only, the others don't count.) It's ahsum!

What a beauty-ful picture. There's a part of me that feels emotional distress by not seeing the changes of fall. The temperature varies between 80-90 here, which is great for the summer but feels wrong in the fall.
