I reallocated 80% of my blog-updating time to cooking. at least that's what you might think if you didn't know that Hugsband does a great deal of the cooking. a more accurate statement, then, would be that I have reallocated 80% of my blog-updating time to eating.

it began with granola with cranberries and currants (I made that). it's really good with yogurt and strawberry jam. I have also been eating a lot of beans and bean-related legumes. the bean streak started with a lentil-basmati pilaf (I made that too) and continued on to hoppin' john and chili (both Hugsband's doing). last night we made caramel corn with cashews.

I have reallocated 80% of my blog updating time to dishwashing.

we had another nor'easter- about 6 inches of snow and ice. this time I couldn't crash Hugsband's snow day and stay home. I had to go to work like a responsible adult. I thought I was sick of winter, but I am enjoying this latest storm. it gets us out of any events that would require leaving the house which is always a good thing. plus, it is kind of nice to sit in my cozy kitchen all weekend and eat beans and caramel corn and work on reports. Hugsband spends his snow days watching movies and throwing snowballs at the squirrels who try to steal birdseed. to each his/her own.

there has been so much snow this year that we have fallen into a typical snow-day routine on those days when there's no possibility of driving anywhere. in addition to working on reports and throwing things at squirrels, we walk to the park to see if the storm has blown in any interesting birds. yesterday we saw a beautiful green-winged teal. the park is amazing on snow days, beautiful and nearly deserted.

++++
