thanks, Jake. I have been feeling a little overwhelmed with work and fun lately, leaving little time for things like this (part work/ part fun). I am "working from home" this morning in order to wait for a furniture delivery (hurry up, CB2, I want to get to work eventually!), which gives me a little extra time for work/fun things.

Hugsband's tae kwan do, or as I like to call it TKD, has been going very well. I am very impressed when I watch him. he takes the whole process very seriously and looks like he could kill someone when he's in action. when he's not in TKD action, he breaks into a sweet smile, encourages others in his class, and looks like he couldn't kill a bug. quite a juxtaposition. they broke boards last night. when he got home, I noticed that there was blood on his sock. apparently, he busted open his thumb and didn't realize until the blood started dripping down on his foot. he's hardcore like that. it's hard to believe he's only a white (baby) belt.

my mom and her new husband will be in arizona at christmas, so we're having a pre-christmas gift exchange at our place. I have never gotten very into decorating for the holidays, but I plan to get a tree and everything this year. this holiday season is exciting for several reasons: (1) for the first time in 10 years, we're not traveling!!!!!!!! (2) we own our house and decorating our own place is just more fun. (3) we have 2 adult-sized paychecks for buying presents and things. (4) many of my friends have had exciting developments that I get to help celebrate this season (engagements, babies, etc.). I even decorated Dougie, who recovered beautifully from surgery and is now more fat & fluffy than ever.

part of the celebrating we get to do involves our friends Janet & Jay, who live in MA but have family in chicago. they were here for a shower over thanksgiving weekend. I bought these socks that look like hi-tops for their baby boy (coming on or about february 1).

Comments:
You're welcome. Dougie looks cute with a bow, but it would have been better if you put it on top of his head. And some tinsel for the tail...now that's getting into the holiday season.

How did we not know you had a ferret? Chris is stoked to see him...

P.S. Do they potty-train okay? Just wondering...

yeah, we've had Dougie for years. he's a lot of fun.

he spends most of his time in his cage and uses the litter box there. when he's out, we leave newspaper in the corners where he's likely to go. you guys can come over and see him some time.

I have a ferret, thank you. and besides, he prefers douglas. also, he loves to dress up for the holidays!

Ferrets are not capable of love.

I disagree. I've seen Doug/Dougie. He loves sleep and a decent meal.

the picture is awesome, but I cannot believe that's me. I look like an insane person.
